History of the Redford church of Christ
|
Our Humble beginning (House church, small white frame bldg.) 1944
The Redford congregation was started with just a few families who came together to form a congregation that would serve the then Redford and Farmington areas. They first met in the Ford hall on Lasher, just north of Grand River. They purchased three lots on Lasher and Verne. Eventually the congregation moved on that lot and began meeting in a small white frame building.
A ground breaking ceremony was held on October 28, 1956 for the new sanctuary, and the dedication service was on November 17, 1957. The gymnasium was added in 1970 and enhancements continued through the years including a parking lot expansion (2000) and Auditorium enhancements (2002 - 2004).
The Redford church of Christ continues to be a diverse congregation with a family environment.
